Ryan Fox claimed the 2026 Open Championship title at Royal Birkdale on Sunday. Tommy Fleetwood finished three shots back after an emotional final round in front of his hometown crowd.
Ryan Fox secured the Claret Jug with steady play through the final round. He handled tough conditions and finished ahead of the field at the historic links course.
Tommy Fleetwood, a Southport native, started the day in contention but dropped shots on holes nine through eleven. He birdied the 18th to finish tied for fourth and received a standing ovation from the galleries.
Cameron Young posted a 64 to take second place while Sam Burns ended third. Fleetwood reflected on the week after his round.
"The crowds were amazing, and they made it the most special week ever for me," Fleetwood said. "My dream of winning the Open will carry on and I'll continue to chase it."
