Ryan Gosling teases Marvel discussions for Ghost Rider

Ryan Gosling has disclosed talks with Marvel Studios about a potential Ghost Rider role. He shared the update on the Happy Sad Confused podcast while preparing for his Star Wars debut. The interest dates back to 2022, with Marvel's Kevin Feige expressing enthusiasm.

Ryan Gosling, a three-time Oscar nominee, recently hinted at ongoing conversations with Marvel Studios regarding an onscreen appearance as Ghost Rider. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he stated, “We’ll keep hope alive. Some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation.” This follows his initial interest in the role announced in 2022, during the filming of Barbie (2023). At that time, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige responded positively, saying, “Hey man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider … Gosling’s unbelievable. Ryan is amazing… I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU.” Feige noted Gosling's promotional appearance as Ken on Venice Beach drew significant attention. Ghost Rider, the character Johnny Blaze—a vengeance-seeking biker who made a deal with the devil— was first portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the 2007 film Ghost Rider. That movie also featured Gosling's partner, Eva Mendes, as Roxanne Simpson. Meanwhile, Gosling is set to star in Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and premiering in theaters on May 28, 2027. He credited Levy's vision for drawing him to the franchise, saying, “It was Shawn’s enthusiasm and his vision and the script… And I just avoided these things because they never felt right. And I’m glad I did.”
