A flamer-heavy Salamanders Space Marines army secured fourth place at the recent Cherokee Open Warhammer 40,000 tournament, which drew over 400 players. Player Noah Neundorfer's list, featuring units like Vulkan He’stan and Vanguard Veterans with hand flamers, suffered only one loss during the event organized by FLG.
The Cherokee Open, hosted by FLG, took place over the past weekend and featured more than 400 participants in Warhammer 40,000. Among the standout performances was Noah Neundorfer's Salamanders Forgefather’s Seekers Strike Force, a 2,000-point Space Marines army that earned fourth place with just a single defeat.
This build emphasizes flame-based weaponry, aligning with the Salamanders chapter's thematic focus on fire. Key characters include Vulkan He’stan as warlord, equipped with a bolt pistol, Gauntlet of the Forge, and Spear of Vulkan; an Apothecary Biologis with the Forged in Battle enhancement; a Captain with Jump Pack carrying a hand flamer and power fist, enhanced by Immolator; and a Lieutenant with Combi-weapon and Adamantine Mantle.
Battleline units consist of an Intercessor Squad with bolt rifles and a power fist. Dedicated transport is an Impulsor with shield dome. Other datasheets highlight an Aggressor Squad with flamestorm gauntlets, Company Heroes including an Ancient and Champion, an Eradicator Squad with melta rifles and multi-meltas, Incursor and Infernus Squads with pyreblasters, Infiltrators with marksman bolt carbines, an Invader ATV with multi-melta, a Land Raider Redeemer armed with flamestorm cannons, a Storm Speeder Hammerstrike, and a Vanguard Veteran Squad with jump packs and hand flamers.
Tactics revolve around stacking buffs on auto-hitting flamers, such as the Immolator enhancement adding +1 to attacks for torrent weapons. Immolation Protocols for 2 command points grant Devastating Wounds to torrent weapons, while the detachment rule allows assault on all weapons. Crucible of Battle for 1 command point provides +1 to wound against the closest enemy within 6 inches, making it effective against tough targets like C’tan.
