On 10 July 2026 applicants receive decisions on admission to autumn programmes. 20-year-old Sean Zhang is among those who applied to the competitive medical programme at Karolinska Institutet.

5 296 people applied to the programme. Sean says admission would mean a great deal to his family who have supported him over the past year.

Today 307 000 applicants receive decisions on admission to higher education programmes. In total 424 017 people applied for education starting autumn 2026 an increase of just over 3 percent compared with the previous year.
