Seth MacFarlane created the animated sitcom Family Guy and provides voices for key characters including Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Glenn Quagmire, Carter Pewterschmidt, Seamus, and Dr. Elmer Hartman. In an interview with IGN, he shared that Tom Tucker, the Quahog 5 News anchor who often delivers outlandish reports and spars with co-anchor Diane Simmons, is surprisingly his easiest character to voice. MacFarlane explained, 'You know what's strange? Tom Tucker, the news guy, was always the easiest character of all to do for some reason.' He described the delivery as a newsy deadpan tone of 'this is all very formal, and everything is 100% under control, and this is what's going on,' based on a cigarette spokesman from 1940s commercials. On the other hand, MacFarlane finds voicing the Griffin family members most challenging. He noted that high-energy characters like Stewie and Peter exhaust him: 'Just as far as sheer exhaustion, Stewie was definitely at the top of the list. I was usually red in the face after I got done with Stewie scenes.' For Brian, the family dog and voice of reason, the difficulty lies in emotional lines delivered in a voice close to his own: 'There was no silly voice to hide behind. You know, Brian's voice is slightly altered, but essentially my own voice.' This insight comes after more than 500 episodes of the series.
