Several trapped after lorry and transit truck collide on Londiani-Muhoroni Road

Several people were trapped on Saturday morning after a lorry carrying sand collided with a transit truck carrying vegetables along the Londiani-Muhoroni highway in Kisumu County.

The accident happened around 6am on June 27 when the lorry lost control and rammed into the transit truck. A motorcycle was also involved in the collision which extensively damaged both vehicles and blocked part of the highway.

Rescuers and members of the public worked to free victims trapped in the wreckage. At the time of reporting several people remained trapped in one vehicle with some heard crying for help.

The cause of the crash has not been established. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes while traffic police cleared the scene.
