Solana builds institutional case with real-world assets and uptime

Solana is positioning itself for institutional adoption through growing real-world asset inflows, validator infrastructure improvements, and flawless performance during a major cloud outage. The blockchain currently hosts nearly $629 million in tokenized assets from blue-chip issuers like Franklin Templeton and Circle. These developments highlight Solana's resilience and low-cost operations compared to Ethereum rollups.

Solana's real-world asset (RWA) footprint stands at about $628.98 million, approaching a recent peak near $700 million. This includes Franklin Templeton’s FOBXX money market fund and Circle’s USYC, a permissioned cash and T-bills instrument alongside USDC. These native integrations provide institutions with compliant subscription and redemption flows directly on Solana, avoiding bridged alternatives.

Operationally, Solana achieved 100 percent uptime over the last 60 days, with no incidents during the October 20 AWS outage that disrupted services in the us-east-1 region, including DynamoDB and DNS. This event affected various Web2 and fintech platforms, underscoring Solana's reduced correlated cloud risks.

Validator infrastructure reflects diversification: TeraSwitch holds about 26.3 percent of active stake, Latitude.sh 14 percent, Cherry Servers 5.2 percent, OVH 4.0 percent, and Amazon’s ASNs roughly 6.4 percent. Coinbase completed a full migration to bare-metal infrastructure in its June 18 report, using Jito and Paladin clients with Firedancer planned. Figment’s Q3 2025 update emphasizes institutional staking practices aware of MEV.

Looking ahead, base-case projections add $250 to $400 million in RWAs by March 31, 2026, reaching $0.9 to $1.05 billion on Solana. A bull case sees $500 to $800 million added, totaling $1.1 to $1.4 billion, while a bear case adds $100 to $200 million. Solana's fees average 0.0000234 SOL per transaction, or 0.0005 to 0.001 SOL in busy periods—below one cent—contrasting with Ethereum L2s' one-to-ten-cent range for similar operations.

Client diversity, including Firedancer testing, and permissioned venues for RWAs remain key focuses to enhance reliability and composability.
