Stella McCartney and H&M host launch party for new collaboration

Stella McCartney and H&M celebrated their second designer collaboration with a vibrant nightclub event in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. The party featured celebrity guests, DJ sets, and previews of the upcoming sustainable collection. The line is scheduled to launch on May 7.

Stella McCartney arrived at the Manhattan event with Janelle Monáe, stepping into a packed room buzzing with excitement. The gathering marked 21 years since McCartney's first H&M collaboration, which sparked media frenzy dubbed “a shopping riot,” “McCartney Madness,” and “Stellamania.” DJ sets by Mark Ronson, Zuri Marley, and Daisy O’Dell set the tone, culminating in a surprise live performance by English rapper Dave. Models in unreleased collection pieces blurred the lines between catwalk and club, while Joe’s Pizza circulated among guests including Amelia Gray, Yasmin Wijnaldum, and Lila Moss. McCartney reflected on the project, saying, “Reworking pieces from my archive brought back so much energy and joy.” She added, “Celebrating here in New York, surrounded by friends and collaborators, feels like a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come on sustainability in our industry—and to stay honest about how far we still have to go, together.” The collection uses certified and recycled fibers, plus alternatives like industrial corn, highlighting both designers' environmental commitments. Reneé Rapp, who fronts the campaign alongside Angelina Kendall and Adwoa Aboah, attended and shared a personal connection. “One of the first things I bought was a pair of Stella jeans—pink, splatter-painted balloon denim. I still have them!” Rapp told Vogue. She laughed about McCartney's enthusiastic FaceTime pitch: “She was like, ‘Reneé darling, we have to do this. We have to do this. When are we doing this? We're going to do this, right?’” The collection is set to arrive in select stores and on hm.com on May 7.
