An 18-year-old man is seriously injured after a shooting on an SL bus at a bus stop near several schools in Tyresö outside Stockholm. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, with the perpetrator fleeing the scene. Many witnesses, including children and students, observed the event.
Police were alerted at 3:08 p.m. to a bus stop in Tyresö's Granängsringen area, where an 18-year-old man had been shot on a stationary SL bus. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and the charge is attempted murder, according to police shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Relatives have been notified, and no other person sustained physical injuries, though around 20 passengers, including the bus driver, were attended to outside the bus. Police have secured video footage from the bus. The perpetrator remains at large and unidentified. Sophie Gunnarsson from SL's press service told TT: “It was one person who was shot on one of our buses when it was stationary at the bus stop.” The bus driver alerted employer Nobina, who called the police, and the driver has been taken off duty. The bus stop is near schools from preschool to upper secondary, including Tyresö gymnasium and Farmarstigens school. Schools were locked down following an app alert about ongoing deadly violence, keeping pupils and children indoors until around 5 p.m. Many children and youths witnessed the event. School principal Martin Widholm from Tyresö municipality said: “A lot of students saw what happened” and “A large number of adults and children experienced a lockdown today.” Police conducted witness interviews in school premises and are cooperating with the municipality for crisis support. Police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl stated: “Many people are shaken.” The Granängsringen area was classified as vulnerable by police in December. Several residents expressed concern, including Erik Kainulainen from the municipality's culture and leisure committee: “It's worrying, as we have teenagers ourselves.”
