The vehicle struck a tree at the edge of the station's parking lot, traveled approximately 60 yards across the lot, clipped a parked car, and then collided with the elevated train platform.
The impact struck a 22-year-old woman who was waiting for a train, as confirmed by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials. The car subsequently flipped over a 3-foot-tall metal railing and landed nose-down on the train tracks below, sustaining extensive front-end damage, including a missing wheel.
