The Kerala Story 2 box office collection day 4: Film earns Rs 2.65 crore

Vipul Shah's The Kerala Story 2 recorded Rs 2.65 crore in India nett collections on its first Monday, marking a significant drop from the previous day. The film's total domestic earnings now stand at Rs 12.8 crore, far below expectations despite prior controversy. Worldwide gross so far is Rs 15.1 crore against a Rs 28 crore budget.

The Kerala Story 2, directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures, has struggled at the box office in its early days. On day 4, which was a Monday, early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk indicate an India nett collection of Rs 2.65 crore. This represents a 44.21 percent decline from Sunday's Rs 4.75 crore earnings.

The film's overall occupancy on that day was 8.75 percent, with variations across show times: 6.29 percent in the morning, 8.65 percent in the afternoon, 7.45 percent in the evening, and 12.61 percent at night. As a result, the total domestic collection after four days reaches Rs 12.8 crore. Worldwide, it has grossed Rs 15.1 crore so far.

In comparison, the 2023 predecessor film, The Kerala Story, earned Rs 10.07 crore on its first Monday and went on to collect Rs 302 crore worldwide on a Rs 15 crore budget, making it a major success. The sequel, with a higher budget of Rs 28 crore, has not crossed Rs 5 crore in any single day's collection despite lacking strong competition.

Prior to release, The Kerala Story 2 faced criticism for its trailer, which was accused of spreading misinformation and making defamatory claims about Kerala. While the original film turned similar controversy into box office advantage, this installment appears to be faltering.
