The 2026 Muscat Nights International Chess Championship in Muscat maintained its high technical standards through round six, drawing a diverse field of international players. In the Over 2000 Open category, the top boards featured intense matchups. Indian Grandmaster Pranesh M defeated International Master Adar Tarhan of Türkiye on board one, boosting his total to five points and solidifying his lead. On board two, India's Iniyan Pa and Egyptian Grandmaster Adham Fawzy ended in a draw, each adding half a point to reach 4.5. Board three brought a draw between Egyptian Grandmaster Ahmed Adly and Iranian FIDE Master Radin Yadegar, keeping both in contention. Russian Grandmaster Mikhail Mozharov won against Syrian FIDE Master Aram Sheikh Khadr on board four, also reaching five points. Indian International Master Mayank Chakraborty secured a victory over Turkish Grandmaster Umut Ata Akbas on board five, joining the leaders at five points.

In the Under 2000 Open category, Humaid Al Zaabi of the United Arab Emirates leads with 5.5 points from six rounds, showcasing steady play. Sudanese Candidate Master Asim Elobeid and Egyptian Medhat Magdy tie for second at 5.5 points. Uzbek player Shakhnoza Sabirova, a standout in the women's section, holds fourth at 5.5, while Syrian Laith Mulhem rounds out the top five with five points.

Beyond the boards, the Oman Chess Committee enhanced the experience with a sightseeing tour to landmarks like Mutrah Souq, Al Alam Palace Square, the National Museum, and the Royal Opera House Muscat.
