Sony’s TriStar Pictures has acquired the feature film rights to Cartoon Cat in a pre-emptive deal. The project comes from creator Trevor Henderson, whose Siren Head recently sold to Warner Bros.
The deal marks the second feature sale for Henderson in recent weeks. TriStar is moving quickly to attach a filmmaker and develop the story.
The creature is described as an ancient hollow rot that uses human memories of old cartoons to enter reality and cause havoc. Nicole Brown and Malcolm Gray at TriStar will oversee development.
Producers attached include Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Scott Glassgold, J. Todd Harris, Thomas Pettinelli, and Marc Marcum. Henderson previously created concept art for Screen Gems’ Tarot.
Henderson is represented by Verve, Josh Dove, and Marios Rush.
