Minister of Works David Umahi has described Mary Habila, the nurse who died at his Ebonyi residence in June, as like a daughter to him.

David Umahi spoke to journalists on Thursday in Abuja. He said Habila, a nurse at the David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences in Uburu, had worked with him for three years. She died on June 27 in a guest house at his residence in Umunaga, Uburu.

Umahi called for an autopsy to establish the cause of death. He stated that he had funded treatment for her medical issues and saw no indication of foul play. He expressed frustration that the matter had become political.

The minister said he had instructed his lawyers to take action against those spreading false information online. He added that he would test the law on cyberbullying in this case.
