US musician Evil Jared Hasselhoff unmasked on The Masked Singer

Bloodhound Gang bassist Evil Jared Hasselhoff was unmasked as the gold-bedecked stink bug 'Dude' in the fourth episode of 'The Masked Singer'. The 54-year-old received too few viewer votes and was eliminated. Five contestants remain ahead of the December 13 finale.

In the ProSieben music show 'The Masked Singer', celebrities performed as singers in elaborate costumes that concealed their identities. Only their voices and mysterious clues hinted at who was on stage. Bloodhound Gang bassist Evil Jared Hasselhoff portrayed the gold-jewelry-adorned stink bug 'Dude'. In the November 30 Saturday episode, he had to reveal himself after receiving too few viewer votes.

After unmasking, Hasselhoff reacted positively: «The Masked Singer was the funniest, craziest adventure», he said. Viewers had already picked him in a poll with 41 percent. The jury, however, was uncertain and debated intensely. Conchita Wurst questioned the English accent: «Your English doesn't sound like you're from a country where English is spoken. I think you're trying to mislead us.» Chris Tall guessed Marc Terenzi, Verona Pooth the basketball player Dennis Schröder.

The Bloodhound Gang was successful in the early 2000s, with their hit «The Bad Touch» topping charts in Germany. The band went on hiatus in 2015. Hasselhoff is familiar in German TV, appearing on 'Duell der Welt' with Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, as well as TV Total specials. Reports indicate he has lived in Berlin for several years.

The monkey 'King' barely survived, while the remaining contestants—'Rave-ioli' (noodle), 'Eggi' (egg), 'Muuhnika' (cow), and 'Harry Otter' (magician)—advance. Previously unmasked were Brigitte Nielsen as a kissy mouth, Natalia Wörner as a dog chew toy, and Barbara Becker as a glittery smiley. The next episode airs on December 6 at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben and Joyn.
