Olympic medallist Vijender Singh has extended support to actor Rajpal Yadav by offering him a role in his forthcoming film while Yadav faces legal troubles in Tihar Jail. Singh expressed admiration for Yadav's contributions to Indian cinema via a social media post. The gesture joins a wave of support from Bollywood figures amid Yadav's cheque-bounce case.
Boxing champion and Olympic medallist Vijender Singh has offered veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav a part in his upcoming film, written and directed by Sanju Saini. This comes as Yadav remains lodged in Tihar Jail due to a long-running cheque-bounce and debt case stemming from his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata.
On February 15, 2026, Singh posted on X: "I respect true talent. @rajpalofficial has given a lot to Indian cinema. He has brought smiles to our faces through so many characters. I extend an invitation to Rajpal Yadav ji to work together in my upcoming film, which is written and directed by @thesanjusaini, and we would like to support him at this time."
Filmmaker Sanju Saini reshared the post, writing: "We Love to see @rajpalofficial Sir on our set. Thanks @boxervijender bhaisaab .. Ye support sirf Rajpal Yadav sir ko hi nhi Humari film ko bhi bada kregi... thanks a lot Bhaisaab."
Yadav's financial difficulties arose from borrowing around Rs 5 crore to finance Ata Pata Laapata, which performed poorly at the box office. Unpaid liabilities, including interest and penalties, grew to approximately Rs 9 crore, leading to legal action under cheque-bounce provisions. Yadav surrendered to Tihar Jail in early February 2026, with his next court hearing scheduled later that month.
Prior to Singh's offer, actor Sonu Sood pledged to cast Yadav in his next film, emphasizing dignity over charity. Other supporters include Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Gurmeet Choudhary, and singer Mika Singh. Separately, director Priyadarshan has reportedly increased Yadav's fees amid the legal row to help him.
