Virat Kohli reveals he sends awards to mother's Gurugram home

After his match-winning 93 in the first ODI against New Zealand in Vadodara, Virat Kohli made a heartwarming revelation that he sends all his Player of the Match awards to his mother's home in Gurugram. India clinched a thrilling four-wicket victory. Kohli described his career journey as nothing short of a dream come true.

In the first ODI between India and New Zealand in Vadodara, Virat Kohli played a brilliant knock of 93 runs, helping the team chase down a target of 301. After Rohit Sharma's early dismissal, Kohli started aggressively but fell in the nineties for the seventh time in his ODI career. India won by four wickets with an over to spare.

This was Kohli's 45th Player of the Match award in his career. When asked about his growing collection of trophies, he said, "Honestly I have no idea. I send it to my mum in Gurgaon, she likes to keep them. If I look back at my whole journey then it is nothing short of a dream come true for me. I have always known my abilities, I have worked a lot for where I am today, God has blessed me with way too much and I have a lot of gratitude in my heart, I feel proud."

Since two ducks in the Australia ODI series last October, Kohli has scored seven consecutive fifty-plus scores, including three centuries, equalling the Indian List A record for most consecutive 50-plus scores. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar as the fastest to 28,000 international runs in his 624th innings and overtook Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket. This performance evokes memories of his peak years in the 50-over format.
