Wolff confident Antonelli will avoid repeating Austrian GP errors

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff believes Kimi Antonelli will not repeat the mistakes that cost him a stronger result at the Austrian Grand Prix. The 19-year-old driver finished fifth after starting from fourth on the grid.

Antonelli lost ground in qualifying when he aborted his final lap after misjudging a yellow flag. He started the race behind George Russell and the two Ferrari drivers.

Wolff noted that Antonelli attacked too aggressively in the opening laps. The driver missed his braking points in the first three corners and dropped a position to Max Verstappen.

"The first few corners, this is where the race got lost," Wolff said. Antonelli accepted responsibility after the race and said he had been too excited early on.

Antonelli trimmed his championship lead to 40 points following Russell's victory at the Red Bull Ring.
