A woman in her 40s has been released from detention after being suspected of murdering a man following a boat trip in Askersund.

The man was found dead on June 24 after a search operation on Lake Vättern. Two days later the woman was detained on the lower level of suspicion.

On Tuesday the prosecutor lifted the detention. The autopsy showed nothing indicating the man was killed by another person, according to prosecutor Clara Åbyhammar.

The suspicions remain but have weakened. Further examinations are ongoing and a final statement is expected later.

A man in his mid-40s has been remanded in custody on probable cause for the unsolved double murder at a farm in Brattås outside Härnösand in the summer of 2005. The arrest was enabled by DNA-based genealogy research following a new law change last year. Prosecutor Hanna Flordal confirms the man's DNA matches the trace from the crime scene.
