Wyndham Clark brought an unusual training aid to the range at The Open Championship. The world number one used a coat hanger to adjust his lead wrist during practice sessions at Royal Birkdale.
Clark said Mondays are set aside for technical work. After finishing tied for 13th at the Genesis Scottish Open, he wanted to address inconsistent ball striking in the final round.
Swing coach Pat Coyner noted that Clark’s lead wrist had become too extended, leaving the clubface open. The coat hanger drill aims to restore flexion in the left wrist to square the face at impact.
Clark is scheduled to tee off at 3:04 p.m. Thursday alongside Cameron Young and Ludvig Åberg.
