Satena's plane crashes in Norte de Santander with 15 dead

A Satena plane operated by Searca crashed in the Curasica hamlet of La Playa de Belén municipality, Norte de Santander, killing 15 people including congressman Diógenes Quintero Amaya. Flight NSE 8849 was en route from Cúcuta to Ocaña and lost radar contact around 11:45 a.m. on January 28, 2026. Satena offered condolences and pledged to clarify the accident.
A firefighting helicopter crashed during operations above Hout Bay on 25 March, but the pilot walked away unharmed. Mike Bothma, an experienced pilot with Kishugu Aviation, escaped the incident involving a yellow Huey helicopter. An investigation by the South African Civil Aviation Authority is underway.

Ulisses de Oliveira, an aviation student, died on the afternoon of Saturday (March 21) following the crash of a single-engine plane during training at the Aeroclube do Amazonas in Manaus. Instructor Fernando Lúcio Moreira dos Santos Filho died at the scene.
