Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced Minecraft World, a £50 million theme park—the first dedicated to the video game—set to open at London’s Chessington World of Adventures in 2027. The project features the world's first Minecraft rollercoaster, block-built playscapes, interactive adventures, the world's biggest Minecraft shop, themed retail and dining, and meet-and-greets with Minecraft mobs.
Mojang Studios has decided against continuing large annual updates for Minecraft following a major overhaul of its world generation system five years ago. The project proved overwhelmingly complex, likened to building a skyscraper with hand tools. This experience led the developer to shift away from such ambitious yearly releases.

The Minecraft Marketplace has released a March 2026 update featuring 21 new packs, including worlds, add-ons, skins, and texture packs. These additions allow players to engage in activities such as baking, pet care, PvP battles, and ocean exploration. The content is accessible via Marketplace Pass and Realms Plus.
Hytale, the Minecraft-inspired adventure game, is no longer canceled following its shutdown by Riot Games earlier this year. Hypixel founders Simon Collins-Laflamme and Philippe Touchette have repurchased the rights and plan to launch it in early access. The team is reverting to an older engine build to accelerate development.

Mojang has confirmed the Mounts of Mayhem update for Minecraft, arriving later this year as the final drop of 2025. The update introduces new rideable mobs and a spear weapon, building on the game's quarterly update schedule. Based on recent snapshots, a release around December 16 is anticipated.
