The conservative group Club for Growth began running ads on January 12, 2026, urging Mississippi lawmakers to pass House Bill 2, the “Mississippi Education Freedom Act,” a wide-ranging education proposal introduced January 7 by House Speaker Jason White and Rep. Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a legal opinion affirming the state's authority to block such institutions from receiving taxpayer funds. The program, set to launch soon, will provide $1 billion in scholarships for educational expenses.
