Alcaraz and Sinner in Six Kings Slam final in Riyadh

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner face off in the Six Kings Slam final in Saudi Arabia. The winner will earn more prize money than at any Grand Slam. Sinner defeated Alcaraz in last year's final.

At the invitational Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are competing for a multi-million jackpot. Alcaraz, 22, advanced to the final with a straightforward 6:4, 6:2 win over Taylor Fritz of the USA. Sinner, 24, also progressed 6:4, 6:2 against Serbian record champion Novak Djokovic.

Each participant receives 1.5 million US dollars in appearance money, with the winner earning an additional 4.5 million – more than their Grand Slam victories this year. Alcaraz triumphed in Paris and New York, Sinner in Melbourne and Wimbledon. Last year, Sinner beat Alcaraz in the final in three sets. Funded by the Saudi state fund, the event awards no world ranking points. Boris Becker remarked in his podcast: »Da gibt’s ne Menge Geld, aber keine Punkte und auch keinen Respekt von der Tennisszene.«

Alexander Zverev exited on Wednesday, losing 3:6, 4:6 to Fritz – his seventh straight defeat against the American. The Hamburger still took home 1.5 million dollars. Zverev now eyes season-enders in Vienna, Paris, and Turin, focusing on health for next year.
