Assouline releases James Bond cars photo book

Assouline has launched 'James Bond Cars,' a 340-page coffee table book chronicling the iconic vehicles from the James Bond franchise across six decades. Curated by Oscar-winning special effects supervisor Chris Corbould, the volume features over 300 photos and behind-the-scenes details from films like 'Dr. No' and 'No Time to Die.' This marks the publisher's third authorized Bond title.

Overview

The new book 'James Bond Cars' spotlights the franchise's tricked-out vehicles, positioning them as co-stars alongside 007. Released this week, it provides a film-by-film account of notable cars from the Sunbeam Alpine in 'Dr. No' (1962) to the Aston Martin DB5 in 'No Time to Die' (2021). Corbould, who worked on 15 Bond films, introduces the tome and shares insights into engineering feats, such as the DB5's ejector seat and the Lotus Esprit's transformation into a submarine.

Content Highlights

Spanning 340 pages, the book includes more than 300 images: behind-the-scenes stills, technical drawings, and production ephemera. It covers Bond's personal rides and those of other characters, featuring marques like Aston Martin (DB5, DBS, V8, Vanquish), Bentleys, BMWs, and Land Rovers. Additional vehicles include Sunseeker speedboats, Boeing 747s, snowmobiles, blimps, and Q Branch inventions like the autogyro 'Little Nellie' from 'You Only Live Twice' (1967).

Special Editions

Assouline offers a limited-edition '007 Trilogy' slipcase, pairing 'James Bond Cars' with prior titles 'James Bond Destinations' and 'James Bond Style.' The set comes in a brushed-aluminum case with a raised 007 insignia, evoking Q's gadgetry. The book underscores Aston Martin's enduring role, with over a dozen models highlighted.

This release celebrates the Bond series' vehicular legacy, blending cinematic history with automotive design.
