Belgium have parted ways with head coach Rudi Garcia after the team's quarter-final exit at the World Cup. The 62-year-old's contract expires at the end of July, and both sides agreed not to extend it.
Rudi Garcia took charge of the national team in February 2025. He guided Belgium to safety in the Nations League with a 4-3 aggregate victory over Ukraine and led the side to the last eight of the World Cup, where they lost to Spain.
Garcia said the decision followed discussions with the Royal Belgian Football Association. "I leave Belgium in League A of the Nations League and among the top eight teams in the world," he added, thanking players, sports director Vincent Mannaert and supporters.
Mannaert praised Garcia for restoring team cohesion during a difficult period. He said the federation is now preparing to appoint a new national coach as part of a fresh cycle.
