The Boston Celtics have traded Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George and multiple draft picks. The deal was reported on Wednesday afternoon.
The Boston Celtics are sending Brown, the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, to Philadelphia for nine-time All-Star George along with two first-round picks in 2028 and 2031 and two second-round picks in 2028 and 2030. The 2028 first-round selection could convert to a pick swap favorable to the Celtics, while the 2031 pick is unprotected.
Brown spent 10 seasons with the Celtics after being selected third overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. He made five All-Star teams, reached the NBA Finals twice and averaged at least 20 points per game in seven straight seasons.
Betting markets reacted immediately after the trade was reported by ESPN's Shams Charania. The 76ers' odds to win the 2026-27 NBA title shortened to +2200, while the Celtics' title odds lengthened to +1100.
The 76ers now feature Brown alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. George, who is entering his age-36 season, heads to Boston after playing limited games over the past two seasons due to injuries and a suspension.
