A clash between groups in the Matraman area to Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, July 26, 2026, left one victim dead.
The incident began around 10:00 WIB when two motorcyclists revved their engines near a nasi uduk stall, creating noise that disturbed residents. Warnings from locals sparked tension, and the pair returned with five companions, damaging UMKM stalls and hitting residents.
The brawl spread to Jalan Tambak with stone-throwing. Two victims were evacuated to Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo, where victim K, aged 23, died, while victim DS remains hospitalized.
Police secured three perpetrators with initials S, T, and U at Polsek Menteng and questioned around 15 people. Kapolres Metro Jakarta Pusat Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung confirmed the clash was not caused by unpaid nasi uduk. Joint personnel were deployed to maintain order, and police confirmed no houses of worship were damaged.
