Colman Domingo felt the weight of hosting Saturday Night Live upon meeting creator Lorne Michaels and seeing historic scripts. “I thought, ‘wow, I’m a part of something that is an institution.’ It is really humbling, and I am grateful,” Domingo said. Michaels noted that hosts should be at the 'right time' in their careers, which Domingo saw as a perfect fit amid his rising prominence as a Vogue cover star and Hollywood figure with theater and sketch comedy roots. The episode marked the show's 51st season, with Anitta as musical guest, and Domingo introduced sketches playing to his strengths while challenging him through diverse characters—and matching wardrobes. “Diversity in characters is also diversity in wardrobe,” he explained. For his monologue, Domingo wore a custom black Valentino suit with shimmering silver lapels as an ode to Michael Jackson, complemented by Boucheron jewelry and an Omega watch. He is a Valentino brand ambassador. A standout sketch featured Domingo as a sharp-tongued fashion professor at an armed robbery scene in New York’s fashion district, drawling, “I don’t teach…I show...
