Companies launch coalition against misinformation in São Paulo

Business associations announced the launch of the Business Coalition Against Misinformation, scheduled for Monday (13) at Unibes Cultural in São Paulo, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event brings together private sector leaders to discuss coordinated actions against the spread of misinformation.

The initiative is led by Instituto Ethos and has partnerships with Aberje (Brazilian Association of Business Communication), Abert (Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters), and Abradee (Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors). It also receives technical support from NetLab at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro).

The goal is to mobilize companies for structured responses based on evidence and aligned with governance and informational integrity practices. The coalition plans to produce technical knowledge, develop guidelines, and promote dialogue among business leaders, experts, and civil society.

"Misinformation directly impacts trust, a fundamental asset for any organization. It is a complex challenge that requires a coordinated and multisectoral response," states Andréia Álvares, president of the Deliberative Council of Instituto Ethos.
