Dead person found two days after barn fire

A dead person has been found in a barn in Östra Göinge municipality two days after a fire. Police suspect it is the elderly man who owns the farm and has been missing since the fire. The incident is being investigated as suspected arson.

On Saturday, a fire broke out in a barn in Jularp in Östra Göinge municipality in Skåne. The fire was reported to the police, but it was not until two days later, on Monday, that a dead person was found during a technical investigation.

"Today, when we conducted a technical examination, a body was found that we suspect is the man who lives there, and it concerns an elderly man," says Patric Fors from the police press service. He adds: "He is not 100 percent identified, but we have spoken with relatives of the farm's owner."

The farm's owner has been missing since the fire started. The body has been sent for forensic examination to determine identity and cause of death. The police are investigating the incident as suspected arson, but how the fire started remains unclear.

Östra Göinge municipality is located in northern Skåne, and the fire has raised concern in the small community of Jularp. Police urge witnesses to contact them with information. No further details on the fire's extent or property damage have emerged.
