Delhi University announces anti-ragging control rooms and AI advisory

Delhi University announced on Monday plans to establish two joint control rooms to monitor ragging violations. The university also issued an advisory against tampering with admission documents using AI.

Delhi University Proctor Professor Manoj Kumar Singh held a meeting on Monday with principals, department heads, hostel authorities, student union representatives and police officers. The university decided to install banners and posters across campuses listing punishments for ragging, which include suspension, expulsion and cancellation of admissions.

As of Monday evening 45,316 candidates had confirmed admissions by paying fees. The application window closes at 11.59 p.m. on Tuesday, with the second list due on July 25 and the new session starting on July 28.

On Sunday the admissions branch warned applicants against uploading AI-generated or altered documents such as marksheets. Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi stated that verification had already detected fake and modified documents, and the university is considering a digital verification tool for future cycles.
