Doctors announce indefinite strike after the summer

Medical unions announced on Monday that they will call an indefinite strike after the summer due to the lack of proposals from the Ministry of Health.

Doctors began their fifth week of strikes against the framework statute on Monday. The unions, including CESM, SMA and AMYTS, stated they will pause mobilizations during the summer due to staff shortages.

After the summer period they will escalate the conflict with an indefinite strike if there are no advances. Their demands include their own statute, a 35-hour workday and a flexible retirement model.

The Council of Ministers approved the draft bill on June 2. Minister Mónica García has reiterated that she will not abandon the processing of the regulation.
