Senior Egyptian and Libyan officials discussed expanding healthcare cooperation, with a focus on pharmaceutical supply and medical industry localisation.
Hisham Stait, chairperson of Egypt’s Unified Procurement Authority, received Libyan Minister of Health Mohamed Al-Fouj and his delegation. The group included advisers and directors for pharmaceutical affairs, planning and international cooperation.
Both sides highlighted historical ties and commitment to deeper healthcare collaboration. Stait outlined the authority’s centralised procurement role and noted pharmaceutical factories have risen from about 150 to nearly 180.
The Libyan delegation expressed interest in Egypt’s strategic medical warehouses. The two sides agreed to continue coordination on healthcare services and Egyptian medical products.
