Egypt’s trade with G20 countries hits $70.4 billion in first nine months of 2025

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics reported Egypt's trade with G20 countries rose to $70.4 billion from January to September 2025, up from $61.7 billion the previous year, a 14.1% increase. The announcement coincided with the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Egyptian exports to G20 countries rose to $15.7 billion in the first nine months of 2025, a 10.6% increase from $14.2 billion in 2024. Italy led importers with $3 billion, followed by Turkey at $2.4 billion, Saudi Arabia at $2.3 billion, the US at $2.1 billion, the UK at $1.2 billion, Germany at $902.7 million, Brazil at $859.5 million, France at $787.8 million, Russia at $620.6 million, and India at $613.3 million.

Key exported commodities included vegetables and fruits worth $2 billion, ready-made garments at $1.9 billion, mineral fuels and oils at $1.7 billion, electrical machinery and equipment at $1.3 billion, fertilizers at $1.1 billion, and iron and steel at $954.6 million.

Imports from G20 countries reached $54.7 billion, up 15.2% from $47.5 billion in 2024. China topped the list at $13.9 billion, followed by the US at $9.3 billion, Saudi Arabia at $7.1 billion, Russia at $3.7 billion, Germany at $3.2 billion, Brazil at $3 billion, Turkey at $2.8 billion, India at $2.7 billion, Italy at $2.1 billion, and Indonesia at $1.4 billion.

Major imported groups comprised electrical and mechanical machinery at $9.1 billion, grains at $3.5 billion, vehicles and tractors at $3.4 billion, plastics at $2.5 billion, oil seeds and oleaginous fruits at $1.5 billion, and organic chemicals at $1.4 billion.

G20 investments in Egypt totaled $12.2 billion in fiscal year 2024/2025, up from $11.3 billion the prior year, with the US leading at $3.3 billion. Egyptian investments in G20 countries hit $7.5 billion, from $7 billion previously, led by Italy at $2.6 billion.

Remittances from Egyptians in G20 countries reached $11.3 billion in 2023/2024, slightly up from $11.1 billion, with Saudi Arabia first at $8 billion. Outbound remittances from foreign workers in Egypt to G20 countries were $199 million, down from $215.6 million.
