Electoral board orders PSOE to change phone calls on healthcare

Andalusia's electoral board has ordered the PSOE to modify a phone campaign that simulated medical appointments to criticize the PP's healthcare management. The Thursday ruling responds to a citizen's complaint and requires removal of the opening phrase that caused confusion.

The calls, aimed at Andalusian voters, opened with the line “Good morning, I am calling about your next medical appointment” before criticizing the supposed privatization of public healthcare by Juanma Moreno’s government. The PSOE asked for votes at the end of the recording.

The electoral board ruled that the introduction could mislead recipients and create anxiety among those awaiting medical care. It ordered removal of that specific phrase while allowing the rest of the critical message to continue.

The board found no irregularities in the use of telephone data or in the automated nature of the calls. The decision comes in the final days of the campaign ahead of the May 17 regional elections.
