Ethiopia addresses election complaints through dialogue and evidence

Ethiopia's Political Parties Joint Council is resolving complaints from the ongoing 7th general election through discussion and evidence, officials said.

In Addis Ababa, Prosperity Party official Melese Alem said threats and harassment occurred during candidate registration in some areas of Oromia and Amhara regions.

Joint councils have been formed in over 80 percent of zones, city administrations and woredas across the country. Out of 69 complaints submitted this week, 60 have been fully resolved.

Melese Alem urged parties to use the joint councils rather than social media to raise issues. Administrative measures are being taken against Prosperity Party members who create obstacles.
