A father and son were attacked at a Memphis Burger King on Tuesday evening after two men accused the son of stealing an Apple Watch. One suspect shot the father during the confrontation, leaving him with a serious injury.
The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. at the Burger King located at 1330 Poplar Ave. in Memphis, Tennessee. Dale Townes, 25, and Trevor Young, 30, arrived in a white Dodge pickup truck towing a trailer with a John Deere lawn mower. They confronted the son, whom they knew from his past work at Young's lawn service, and a fight broke out in the parking lot.
The son ran inside the restaurant to find his father. The men followed, and the father tried to intervene. When the situation escalated, Townes allegedly shot the father at close range in the abdomen. The father was initially listed in critical condition but later downgraded to non-critical. The son suffered shoulder injuries from being beaten.
Memphis police arrested the pair about 15 minutes later after spotting their vehicle. Townes faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and employing a firearm during a felony. Young is charged with aggravated assault and accessory after the fact. A bail review hearing and arraignment are scheduled for Thursday.
