Gash Frewo starts plogging initiative in Addis Ababa

Gash Frewo and supporters in Addis Ababa begin Sunday runs not for leisure but for environmental cleanup plogging. The initiative combines fitness with community service to promote sustainable practices. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has expressed approval.

In Addis Ababa, on Hidar 27, 2018 (EC), Gash Frewo and his group began Sunday runs not for rest but for environmental protection community service jogging. Gash Frewo, a mental health professional who supports various organizations, leads volunteers in this effort.

In an interview with Fana Podcast, Gash Frewo stated that by integrating environmental protection with individual health, they aim to foster a sustainable environmental culture across the country. Many participants join under the motto "Gash Frewo" and express happiness about the initiative.

They combined physical fitness challenges with trash collection to launch "Plogging Ethiopia." As Gash Frewo said, "Even if the trash belongs to someone else, in a way, it's mine." In the Antoto area, once a week during runs, they collect litter, starting from their own apartment building and encouraging other runners to participate.

During their noise reduction campaign in Entoto, they discuss matters among themselves and share genuine laughs with others, emphasizing the need for discipline to respond positively. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) saw their Facebook post titled "Burtu" and replied "Des," expressing approval. Later, in parliament, he highlighted their idea, noting it has made them more responsible and proud.

Gash Frewo remarked, "All the countries I studied in are my country," having lived and studied in Rwanda, South Sudan, Eritrea, and America.
