Gasoline prices show minimal changes starting this Thursday

The National Petroleum Company reported minor fuel price changes on Wednesday that take effect Thursday, May 7. 93-octane gasoline rises 0.1 pesos per liter and diesel falls 47.3 pesos, while kerosene stays the same.

According to Enap’s weekly report, 97-octane gasoline falls 0.6 pesos per liter and vehicular LPG rises 49.3 pesos. The state company clarified that its report does not set final prices, which are determined by distributors.

The government changed Mepco parameters, switching from a four-week to a 13-week average to calculate the reference price. This cut the specific tax on 93-octane gasoline from 6 to 4.9 UTM per cubic meter.

Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz defended the adjustment and estimated fiscal savings near one billion dollars. Brent crude prices hover around 101 dollars per barrel, up 67 percent so far in 2026.
