US multinational Greystar completed the full acquisition of Chilean multifamily operator Lar Group. The deal lifts its local market share from around 7% to about 15%.
The US firm, one of the main residential rental operators in the United States, announced the 100% acquisition of Lar Group, a company linked to the Villaseca family. Talks began nearly a year ago, intensified at the end of 2025, and the agreement closed during July.
Ivars Grinbergs, Greystar country manager in Chile, said the purchase forms part of an inorganic growth strategy. “Greystar is committed to continuing to grow in the country,” he stated. The transaction will be financed equally by the Chilean subsidiary and the US parent, and will exceed the initial US$25 million budget planned for the year.
Lar Group manages 12 buildings in Las Condes, Vitacura, Ñuñoa, La Florida and Santiago Centro. All contracts with asset owners will be maintained, with emphasis on operational continuity. Greystar plans to consolidate its operations before seeking new expansion opportunities.
