Grand Rapids Griffins blanked the Manitoba Moose 2-0 in Game 2 of their AHL Central Division semifinal series on Sunday. The best-of-five series is now tied 1-1. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday in Grand Rapids.
Michal Postava made 30 saves to secure the shutout for the Griffins at Canada Life Centre on May 3. Michael Brandsegg-Nygård scored late in the first period and assisted on William Wallinder’s goal with 5:12 left in regulation, giving Grand Rapids the victory after Manitoba’s 1-0 shutout win in Game 1 on May 2. The series now stands tied 1-1 heading into Grand Rapids for the next games. Postava, who stopped 22 of 23 shots in Game 1, earned his third shutout in his last six starts. Manitoba’s Domenic DiVincentiis made 32 saves on 34 shots after his 39-save performance in the opener. Game 3 is set for Wednesday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. ET in Grand Rapids, with Games 4 and 5 scheduled for May 8 and 9 if necessary.
