Rockstar Games has no plans to release a disc-based version of Grand Theft Auto VI at launch or in the months after. A new report from The Hollywood Reporter clarified that an earlier customer support email was misinterpreted.
The Hollywood Reporter reported on June 27 that there are no plans for Grand Theft Auto VI discs to be printed, not at launch and not months after. A source with knowledge of the release plans confirmed the authenticity of a Rockstar Support email but said its language caused the misunderstanding.
The email stated that customers would be able to acquire a physical copy during the following months. According to the report, this referred to the code-in-box editions already announced following pre-order openings, not a later disc release.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. Pre-orders began earlier in the week, with the game launching as a digital-only title accompanied by boxes containing download codes.
