Andrés Guardado denied rumors linking him as an assistant to Rafael Márquez with Mexico's national team. The former player stated there is no contract or formal invitation from the Mexican Football Federation.
Guardado stated in an interview that circulating information is false. “Well, that is just a rumor. I have not been hired by anyone yet”, he said.
The former midfielder backed Márquez's appointment as head coach, who was officially presented on July 8. He highlighted Márquez's experience during the process leading to the 2026 World Cup.
Guardado also assessed Mexico's participation in that tournament, where the team reached the round of 16. Rafael Márquez will coach his first matches during the FIFA date in September 2026.
