Finance profile Günther Mårder, detained on Friday suspected of serious insider trading offences, has requested to leave his role on the Swedish Public Employment Service board and resigned from RaySearch Laboratories.

Günther Mårder was remanded in custody by Stockholm District Court on Friday, suspected on probable cause of four counts of serious insider trading between 2024 and 2026. He is suspected of advising another person to buy shares in RaySearch Laboratories, where he served as a board member. Mårder denies the charges, and according to the prosecutor, he did not profit from the alleged advice.

On Sunday, Mårder requested through his counsel to be relieved of his board position at Arbetsförmedlingen, the Swedish Public Employment Service, which he received from the government in 2023. The request was confirmed by the Ministry of Employment, according to the press secretary for Minister Johan Britz (L).

RaySearch Laboratories announced on Sunday evening that Mårder is leaving the board with immediate effect for personal reasons. He had previously been chairman of Spotlight Group, which is replacing him with Sara Uhlén until the annual general meeting in May. Spotlight Group's board stated in a press release that they have no reason to believe the suspicions involve the company.

Mårder, former CEO of Aktiespararna and Företagarna, is known in the media as 'Sweden's stingiest man'.
