Heavenly announces first album in 30 years

The indie-pop band Heavenly has revealed plans for a new album, marking their first release since 1996. Titled Highway to Heavenly, it is set for February 27 on Skep Wax label. The announcement coincides with their 2026 tour.

Heavenly, the indie-pop quintet formed in 1989, is set to release Highway to Heavenly on February 27 via the band's own Skep Wax label, founded by members Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey. This will be their first studio album in nearly three decades, following 1996's Operation Heavenly. The group, consisting of original members Amelia Fletcher, Cathy Rogers, Peter Momtchiloff, and Rob Pursey alongside new drummer Ian Button, recorded the project with producer Toby Burroughs.

The album pairs with Heavenly's already-announced 2026 tour. In a statement, the band described the record as featuring songs "of anger, of grief, of empathy, of love," positioning themselves against "the resurgence of the cold ‘masculine energy’ that is making the world a miserable, aggressive place."

Heavenly's history includes four studio albums from 1989 to 1996, after which they disbanded following the sudden death of original drummer Matthew Fletcher. The surviving members later formed Marine Research and Tender Trap before reuniting as Heavenly in 2023.

Listeners can already stream the lead single "Portland Town," released last June, and the peppy second single "Excuse Me." The full tracklist is:

  1. “Scene Stealing”
  2. “Portland Town”
  3. “Press Return”
  4. “Skep Wax”
  5. “Deflicted”
  6. “Excuse Me”
  7. “A Different Beat”
  8. “Good Times”
  9. “The Neverseen”
  10. “She Is The One”
  11. “That Last Day”

This reunion effort signals a return to form for the influential indie-pop outfit.
