Islanders recall Highmore and Warren, loan Gatcomb to Bridgeport

The New York Islanders announced roster moves on Thursday, recalling forward Matthew Highmore and defenseman Marshall Warren from the Bridgeport Islanders while assigning forward Marc Gatcomb to Bridgeport after he cleared waivers. These transactions come in response to injuries affecting the team. Additionally, Pierre Engvall was placed on long-term injured reserve.

The New York Islanders made several roster adjustments on Thursday afternoon amid ongoing injury concerns. Forward Matthew Highmore and defenseman Marshall Warren were recalled from their AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders. In a corresponding move, forward Marc Gatcomb was loaned to Bridgeport after clearing waivers.

Highmore, a 29-year-old veteran with 187 NHL games across stints with the Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, and Ottawa Senators, is in his first season with the Islanders organization after signing a two-way contract in the offseason. He has recorded four assists in four games with Bridgeport this season. Last year, Highmore tallied six points (2 goals, 4 assists) in 41 NHL games for Ottawa and 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in 23 games for the Senators' AHL affiliate, Belleville.

Warren, a 24-year-old from Laurel Hollow, is in his second full professional season. He has five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in his first four games with Bridgeport. Warren made headlines early in the season with four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in his first two games, earning AHL Player of the Week honors for the period ending October 12. In his rookie pro season last year, he posted 17 points (4 goals, 13 assists) in 53 games.

Gatcomb appeared in one game for the Islanders this season, logging 8:33 of time on ice and recording one shot during the team's home opener on October 11.

These moves follow injuries to defenseman Alexander Romanov, who is on injured reserve with an upper-body issue, and forward Max Shabanov, who is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The team also placed forward Pierre Engvall on long-term injured reserve on Thursday.
