Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber was scratched from Tuesday's lineup at Nationals Park due to lower back tightness. Edmundo Sosa took his place in the batting order.
The Major League leader with 29 home runs had gone 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the Phillies' 4-1 loss to the Nationals on Monday. Schwarber had hit four home runs and driven in nine runs during back-to-back wins over the Mets the previous weekend.
Schwarber has appeared in 75 of the Phillies' first 78 games this season. He played all 162 games last season and appeared in at least 150 games in each of the prior four seasons.
The team listed Schwarber as day-to-day.
