The Document Foundation has released LibreOffice 25.2.7, marking the seventh and last maintenance update for the 25.2 office suite series. This version addresses 43 bugs and comes as support for 25.2 nears its end on November 30, 2025. The foundation recommends upgrading to the newer LibreOffice 25.8 series for continued improvements and support.
The Document Foundation announced the general availability of LibreOffice 25.2.7 on October 30, 2025, as the final maintenance release in the LibreOffice 25.2 series. This update fixes 43 bugs, drawing from the RC1 and RC2 changelogs, and serves users who have not yet transitioned to later versions.
“Users of LibreOffice 25.2.x should update to LibreOffice 25.8.x, as LibreOffice 25.2.x is approaching the end of its support period,” the foundation stated. While 25.2 remains supported until November 30, 2025, major GNU/Linux distributions have already adopted LibreOffice 25.8.
LibreOffice 25.8, released on August 20, 2025, introduces significant enhancements, including support for exporting to PDF 2.0, up to 30% faster file opening in Writer and Calc, optimized memory management for virtual desktops and thin clients, improved scrolling in large documents, and an overhaul of word hyphenation and spacing. The 25.8 series, with its latest update at 25.8.2, will receive seven maintenance releases until support ends on June 12, 2026. The next point release, 25.8.3, is scheduled for mid-November 2025.
Both 25.2.7 and 25.8.2 are available for download from the official website as binaries for RPM and DEB-based distributions, source tarballs for integrators, Flatpak apps from Flathub, or through distribution repositories. LibreOffice supports open ODF standards like ODT, ODS, and ODP, as well as Microsoft's OOXML formats such as DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX. It offers builds for Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS, with mobile versions for Android and iOS, and cloud deployments. For enterprise users, specialized versions provide long-term support of three to five years, service level agreements, and security patches.
