Love Rarely announces debut album Pain Travels

Emerging Leeds band Love Rarely has revealed details of their debut album, Pain Travels, set for release on April 10 via Big Scary Monsters. The self-produced record captures the group's DIY spirit amid personal challenges. A new single, Will, accompanies the announcement with an official music video.

Love Rarely, hailing from Leeds' vibrant alternative music scene, operates in the math-rock, emo, and hardcore genres. The band—comprising vocalist Courtney Levitt, guitarists Dan Dewsnap and Lew Taylor, bassist Dan Gilson, and drummer Leo Godfrey—has announced their first full-length album, Pain Travels. Scheduled for release on April 10 through Big Scary Monsters, the album was entirely self-produced by Taylor in makeshift spaces like spare bedrooms.

Guitarist Dan Dewsnap described the album's themes: “Pain Travels takes you on a journey of attempting to cope with life when you might not have been dealt the best hand. It ended up being a deeper and darker record than we initially thought it would be, but that speaks to the authenticity on show. There’s a lot of positivity too. We’re basically saying things have been tough, but it’s going to be okay.”

To mark the announcement, Love Rarely released the single Will, complete with an official music video. This follows their previous singles Mould and Whiplash, both unveiled in September of the prior year. The album's tracklist includes: Repulse, Severed, I’ll Try, Haunted, Blame, What You Did, Mould, Whiplash, Dormant, Disappear, and Through Families.

Pre-orders for Pain Travels are now available, reflecting the band's commitment to an uncompromising DIY ethos. This debut underscores their evolution from individual contributions to a cohesive project born from improvisation and resilience.
